Wow, that's amazing.

And I would really love looking out on that tree every day.

Yes, this is my house - studio is in the top (3rd) floor. I haven't had any luck finding other locations...

Empty? Unfortunately, no. It was when we moved in - it had a giant old tree, but nothing else. It was sold shortly after we moved in, and they've spent the last two years building two AWFUL looking square block houses on that small lot - asking price, half a million -no joke. The first sold quickly, but is now back on the market. They've had a hard time selling the other, which will be finished soon I think. Very crooked contractor running the whole operation. I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy one of those houses, and I hate the fact that I'll have to look at them for the next fifty years...! If we're lucky maybe Carlstadt will have a freak tornado that will carry them away...

I actually think there may be NO empty spaces left in town... except for a few lots which have had demoliton done recently - soon to be rebuilt, I'm sure... The crazy prices in real estate have worked to our advantage, though. We have no intentions of selling, but our house is now valued at almost double what we paid for it - with few improvements, so when we're done ( in about 20 years...) it should have made for a good investment!
When we were looking at the house, we had this fantasy about buying that empty lot as well for a garden space... HA! Maybe when we win the lottery we can buy up those lots and tear down the houses - I doubt anyone would object!
