So about an hour ago, I witnessed this guy driving a big, white container truck on Washington St (nyc) rip the entire passenger side mirror off of a parked car. I left a note on the windshield of the car with the guys liscence plate #. As I was doing this, I noticed the car had a NYPD shield on the dashboard, so hopefully he'll find the guy. I really can't believe the guy didn't stop.... He saw me watch him do it! I guess he was counting on me being the typical new yorker who would probably just have ignored it.

I just hope this doesn't turn into one of those "no good deed goes unpunished" sort of things...

Good for you! So few people do the right thing because they're afraid someone will retaliate. (((HUGS))) and good wishes that your good deed manages to escape unpunished.

a van did this to my car once. it backed into it and pretty much destroyed everything from the door forward and then drove off in the middle of the night. it left some paint on my car, though, and I had the body shop send it to be identified. It was a color used on Dodge vans. I remembered seeing one occasionally behind my apartment and one day when I saw it, I went and had a look at its bumper and sure enough, Ford's Pitch Black was all over it. Long story short, I confronted the guy and he picked up my body shop bill. What a jackass. I hope the guy you saw gets caught.
