website redesign in progress.

I'm trying to simplify the site and make it a bit more secure. How's it look?

Suggestions welcome!

i like the simplicity of it.

thoughts: looking at the main page and seeing links for "portfolio" and "portfolio 2," i have a moment of "okay, which do i click, and why"? i understand wanting to split the portfolio up so that there aren't lots and lots of images on one big portfolio page. but it would seem more intuitive to me to either just have one portfolio link from the main page, and then a "more" or "page 2" link from there. or else to have the pages divided by subject/style/type of picture, so you could link to both pages from the main page, but those links could be descriptive, e.g., "color portaits" and "b&w + music photography" or something. (with descriptive links, then you keep the easy navigation structure you have now, where every page is clearly linked to from every other page -- which i think is good.)

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I'm limited to the templates I'm working with, so although I'd ideally do the "more" link, I can't do it. Also because of this, using longish page names screws up the links for some reason. If I had even the slightest idea of how this stuff really works, I could probably do alot more!

I agree with the previous comment regarding the Portfolio 1 and Portfolio 2 links.

altogether, i find it kind of bland. Also, i noticed that the backgound for me was not white, but the default for my browser (IE - haven't looked at it at home yet) you might want to change that so that the background is always white. It'd probably look better that way for us freaks with different defaults.

Have you thought about coming up with a logo maybe? Why did you choose that image for your home page photo? I think you have better ones - unless that's a self portrait (i've no idea what you look like).

Hope that's not too critiquey. I do like the simplicity of the site.

Hmmm... I don't know about the white thing. That's what I'm seeing, but I also have no way to control it either, due to the limits of the template I have to work with.

I definitely don't want a logo. I've yet to see a photographer's logo that wasn't dumb or goofy. Not for me. And the photo on the front page isn't me, although I suspected people might think that. I really didn't want to put a female portrait on the front, and I'm sure as hell not putting a self portrait up there! Putting still life stuff up there is a possibility, but seems boring and doesn't really represent what I do.

I need to just have someone else do the site I think!

thanks!

i think the tag background=HEX for white would work well.

Thank you.... but at the risk of seeming totally dumb, where would I put that? Before anything else, I'd guess? If you can explain it to me like I'm five years old, I'll probably get it!
