I updated and reorganized my portfolio today... Rather than a single page, I categorized my work... If anyone is bored and has time to kill, could you have a look and tell me whether it makes sense/is easy to use/is better than a bunch of single photos on one page/etc...

I figure it makes more sense to direct a potential client/employer to a folder of photos that closely suits their interests vs. a page of general work... someone looking for headshots probably doesn't care that I really enjoy nature photography....!

Feel free to comment on individual photos, or the layout in general... any input will be useful.

Your portfolio looks great. Your color Brooklyn Bridge shots really stand out. (damn i hate you, the sky never looks so beautiful for me)

I noticed a few posts back, you mentioned the "Real Brooklyn: A Day In the Life" photo exhibit, I just got a bunch of postcards in the mail yesterday for it, because I'm in another show that's related to it. Anyway, I was wondering if your work was involved? (Since I'm gonna go, I'll look for your pieces.)

Also you might be interested in this http://www.paintandglue.com/
I'm thinking about participating, but who knows.

What show are you exhibiting in? ....and yes, I am in the Day in the Life show, but honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the stuff I shot that day. Luckily, though one of mine was selected to be among those hung on the walls and not just in the books of prints...(does that make any sense? 500 or so photos, 80something were chosen for the walls and the rest will be in books on display...)

How come you received postcards and I didn't? I'll have to complain to the powers that be...

Thanks for taking the time to look at my portfolio!

I'm off to check out that paintandglue thing...

It's for a small showing in Tillie's. How did you find out about "Real Brooklyn"? I always want to at least try for things like that, but I'm so out of the loop here on long island. I'd love it if you could be my informant, so to speak.:) If you can't get your hands on some postcards, let me know, I can send you a couple.

Oh, and I emailed the paintandglue people, since the website is really barebones, this was their response-

thanks so much for your interest in the event, we thought it was a cool idea and were hoping others would follow suit! We are very open to all different forms of art the whole point is to have a variety of images and art in general. I went to your website and things look really great, I especially like your b&w work.
Just so you know how we are planning to do things...
the art will be displayed throughout the night (friday aug 22 from 8pm-12am) there will be films shown in the back and bands playing in the main room. The entire event will be broadcast on pseudo.com and should be a lot of fun. We have a limited capacity of 100-150 so we want to keep it small intimate and interesting. Each artist will be responsible for selling 5-10 tickets and that money will go toward paying for the event. Unfortunately we cannot pay any artists but i think thats not why people are involved. We would like to collect your work at least 5days before the event (up to 6 prints)..what size prints to you have? and how are they formatted (mats frames flat?). we are displaying them in a budget manor so we want to keep all this in mind when buying equipment.
anyway, let me know what you think and details on what you were thinking about submitting.

How did I find out about the Day in the life thing? Really... I can't remember. The whole thing is coordinated through PositiveFocus, but I don't exactly know how I found them... I spend a fair amount of time searching through message boards/forums/LJ/craigslist/etc... for photo opportunities, so I really don't know. AND, at this point, its been SO long since I first submitted my portfolio to them... It must have been back in Feb. or March! and the show doesn't even open for another month...

I'll gladly be your informant... and I may take you up on those cards if none arrive soon!

Thanks for the info on the Paint and Glue (show?)
I tried the site, but it wasn't really working... Am I correct to understand that its sort of a collaborative show/party thing?

Do I need to do something to be considered for this? It seems that they checked out your work...
Anything else you can tell me about the event would be helpful...

thanks, and if you'd rather email me directly: nblaney@comcast.net
