NYC Photo Protest thoughts....

Just a few more thoughts...

Some have argued that getting a permit to shoot is a decent idea. On the surface it is maybe. But, have you ever tried dealing with the city for anything? Imagine an experience similar to going to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles. One big pain. And also, who will set the criteria for who's elegible? Do you want to be told what you can and can't shoot?

I'm sure I'm not alone in the fact that I shoot spontaneously... I rarely plan a shoot, I just carry a camera everywhere and photograph what strikes me as interesting. Sometimes, that's in the subway...

Where will this lead? Maybe it will soon be too much of a threat to security to shoot photos from the bus... or your car... or at all.

Virtually every bit of info that terrorist would need to do something horrible is available online or in a book. Photo reconnaisance (sp?) is unlikely to be a high priority for them...

So suppose the ban happens. Do they think that will stop someone looking to commit mass murder? I doubt it... it will only prevent you and I from taking photos. Cameras are also easily concealed... Just try one of the Spy Shops here in the city...

THANKS to everyone who turned out for the protest, maybe some attention will be drawn to how stupid this all is!
